Iran often surprises people with the warmth of its welcome. My role is to help travellers discover it with confidence, curiosity and openness.

Afrooz

A member of Key2persia since 2004, Afrooz assists English-speaking travelers in preparing their stay in Iran with extensive local knowledge and particular attention to meaningful exchanges. Head of sales and marketing for the French department, she bridges the desires of travelers with the local expertise of the team. Afrooz loves sharing a rich Iran steeped in culture, history and encounters, far beyond the first impressions one might have of the country. From grand Persian cities to villages, from gardens to deserts, from bustling bazaars to hospitality traditions, she takes part in creating tailor-made trips adapted to the pace and expectations of each person. Her approach is rooted in listening, precision and a desire to share a profoundly human country, where each stage can become an encounter.

Everything you need to know about Iran

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to travel to Iran?

Iran is best discovered during two pivotal seasons. From April to early June, the Persian gardens of Shiraz and Kashan are in bloom, temperatures remain mild on the central plateau, and nights stay cool in the Zagros mountains. From mid-September to late November, the shoulder season offers magnificent light over Isfahan's domes and allows you to trek through the Dasht-e Kavir desert without discomfort. In summer, it's better to head up to Tabriz, Gilan, or the Alamut villages, while skiing enthusiasts make their way to Dizin between January and March. For a coherent trip to Iran, avoid the intense heat of Yazd in July-August and the Norouz period in late March, when the entire country travels at the same time.

What budget should you plan for a trip to Iran?

Iran remains one of the most affordable destinations in the Middle East, with one important caveat: everything is paid in cash, as foreign cards do not work. Budget an average of 90 to 130 € per day and per person for a comfortable tour including English-speaking driver, characterful accommodations (traditional houses in Yazd, Qajar mansions in Kashan), site entries and most meals. Moving upmarket toward boutique hotels in Isfahan or Shiraz, you'll easily exceed 180 €. Domestic flights Tehran-Shiraz or Tehran-Tabriz are inexpensive, around 40 to 60 €, and save valuable time. Then there are tips, carpets and bazaar calligraphy: budget items to anticipate, as splurges often happen.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in Iran?

Iran demands more than a paper guide. The country is vast, distances between Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd and Shiraz add up quickly, and certain procedures – visa authorization codes, payments, internal bookings – still go through local channels. As a travel agency based on the ground, we work with English-speaking drivers and guides who know the best times to visit the Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque or avoid crowds at Hafez's mausoleum. Beyond logistics, it's about access: tea with a master miniaturist in Isfahan, a night with a local family in a Zoroastrian village, a detour to the Towers of Silence. Building your Iran itinerary with us means saving time and gaining refinement.

What to see on a tour in Iran?

A first trip to Iran often follows the classic cultural axis: Tehran and its museums, Kashan and its patrician mansions, Isfahan whose Naghsh-e Jahan square alone justifies several days, Yazd the rammed-earth city, then Shiraz, Persepolis and Pasargades. But the country extends far beyond. In the northwest, Tabriz and the troglodytic village of Kandovan open onto Iranian Azerbaijan and the Armenian churches of Saint Thaddaeus. To the east, the oases of Garmeh and the dunes of Mesr offer memorable desert nights. Hiking enthusiasts turn to the valleys of Alamut or the Damavand massif. Depending on your preferences, you can adjust: more Safavid art, greater immersion in Qashqai nomadism, or a real pause in the bazaars.
